With Light We Hide Darkness (Luce Celamus Tenebras)

Summary:

The Land of the Obscuro

A graveyard infected by centuries of resentful energy, capable of sucking the vitality of any living thing and bringing eternal damnation to the soul. A prostitute with a golden heart, gives birth in the very same land on the verge of her death. A girl with purple eyes is born. Her skin is covered in black, iridescent, shiny scales. Death is her soul. She is doomed to be the eternal damnation of the mankind. To never be killed. To never be loved. To never be hated. What exactly is she? What made her come into being? What is fate? Why is this her fate? Why must it doom an innocent child born in the land of Obscuro?

Chapter 1: The Beginning

The sky is pitch-black. All of the stars have vanished, as if the land's darkness will extinguish their light. There are numerous corpses surrounding the land. Corpses with soft, beautiful humane skin tones that have yet to fade. The eyes were frozen with a vivid expression of fear and knowledge of an impending threat called death. These bodies will never decay. That is the role of the land that kills the living. The only way to dispose of the corpse is to let an infinite number of scavengers chew it up, leaving no bones behind. This land is known as Obscuro, which comes from the Latin word for dark.

However, since the beginning of time, there has always been an exception. A woman with purple eyes, caramel-colored skin, and glossy pink lips is laying on the ground on the outskirts of Obscuro right now. She is moaning and groaning in agony, desperately trying to push the creature inside her out. Her brow is drenched in sweat, and her hands are clawing at the dirt to relieve the pain. She is aware that death has found her. She will die the moment the child inside her is born. Nonetheless, she is tenacious. With one final push, she hears the most beautiful sound she has ever heard. She gives a pained smile when she hears the sound of crying. The creature clearly has strong lungs and wishes to make her presence known to the entire world. The creature she knows is just as stubborn as she is. wishing to be born despite the fact that fate forbids it.

She tries to sit up with the last of her energy to take one last look at the only blessing in her life. She is taken aback. The girl has purple eyes like her, but her skin is covered in black, iridescent, shiny scales that fade away when the eyes look at her. She picks up the baby with her trembling hands in the most tender way possible. This is the only time in her life when she throws down all the barriers. The baby feels all of the mother's love and adoration as it begins to babble and smiles. The woman brings the baby to her face and gives the baby the unique kiss of motherhood. This kiss she gives the baby contains her heartache for never being able to see her blessing grow, for never being able to care for her with her own hands, and for finally being happy to be embraced by death after witnessing her miracle. As she begins to feel lightheaded and falls back, black spots begin to obscure her vision. As soon as her back touches the ground, she tucks the baby into her bosom like a precious treasure to protect it from the fall.

Her expression abruptly changes. As she breathes her last, the heartache and sadness in her eyes condensate into tears falling down her cheeks. Everything falls silent. The baby on her bosom is perplexed by her mother's movement. Why isn't her mother moving? It had just felt its mother's strong heartbeat. What happened to it? The baby begins to cry, believing that the mother will hear her and pay attention to her. Yet all the baby hears is the echo of its own loud noise, scaring it into crying even more until it falls asleep from exhaustion.

The spirits of the land of Obscuro are the only witnesses to the woman's death. They could feel the strand of vitality right next to the land's edge. They are aware that the woman left a gift in the world: mankind's eternal damnation. They adore the prophecy that foretells the annihilation of humanity. The same humanity that had a heart blacker than the demons.
